Michael Strahan Quits

ABC made an announcement recently that Michael Strahan will be the new face for the popular Good Morning America program. Michael confirmed that his four years of association with daytime’s Live with Kelly and Michael is coming to an end. The former football star had been taking part in the Good Morning America show for twice a week. Now, he will join ABC full time and work to bring about interesting stores in Good Morning America. ABC welcomes Michael to become a part of the regular cast including Robin Roberts, Lara Spencer, Geroge Stephanopoulos, Ginger Zee and Amy Robach.

Michael Strahan, the former New York Giant player quickly rose to become a popular TV personality. In 2010, Michael replaced Regis Philbin for the Live show. In two years, Michael made more than 20 appearances on the show and his witty personality charmed Kelly Ripa. So, she decided that Michael should be the permanent co-host of the show. The announcement was made in 2012 and the name of the program was rechristened to Live with Kelly and Michael. Due to the introduction of Michael, the popularity of the Live show surged, attracting more audience.

What it means for Kelly Ripa? According to a recent report, Kelly Ripa expressed her concern when Michael Strahan started regularly appearing for the Good Morning America show. However, the producers of the show assured her that there was nothing to worry. However, Michael had been planning to quit the Live show behind Kelly’s back. When Michael made the official announcement to the producers, Kelly became outraged and furious.

Nobody is happy with the way the situation is handled presently. On the April 20th episode, Michael made an open statement to the audience, recollecting the best times he had with the Live show. However, Kelly Ripa was not present with Michael on the show. Michael co-hosted the program with Ana Gasteyer and the tiff between him and Kelly Ripa became public. A source revealed to Public that Kelly feels betrayed because Michael Strahan hadn’t said to her sooner. Kelly feels that she has been completely sidelined even though she was responsible for Michael getting his gig.

During the speech on the show on April 20th, Michael Strahan thanked Kelly saying that she was the one who mentored him and made him who he was now. However, according to the sources, this hasn’t cooled down Kelly and she has no plans coming on the show until Michael Strahan goes away for good.

GMA gets a new makeover with Strahan

ABC announced that it is thrilled to have Michael Strahan on the team. Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos took to twitter to congratulate Michael and welcome him to the team. Strahan’s entry into the GMA team has happened at the right time. Good Morning America show was leading as the top morning show. However, in recent times, it is pushed down as the Today’s show NBC is now considered as the most popular TV show. The producers of GMA believe that Michael’s entry into the team will help ABC’s brand name from going kaput.

Live starts hunting for a new co-host

It can be difficult to find someone as witty and charming as Michael Strahan to co-host with Kelly. At present, Kelly is predominantly upset and it could take a while for her to get used to her new co-host. At the same time, many reports say that Kelly too won’t be able to leave Live due to financial problems. She needs the money she makes form the show and she is currently behaving responsibly by avoiding talks about the whole issue.

The next big question now is who will replace Strahan. A few names have been considered by Daytime Talk to be the best host for the Live show along with Kelly Ripa. One of the prominent names under discussion is Anderson Cooper who was invited to the show 10 times. Even Josh Groban is not a stranger to the show as he has been invited as a guest several times. Mark Consuelos has co-hosted the show along with his wife Kelly and he could also be considered for the permanent position. If the Live show decides to bring up a phenomenal change, we can expect Kelly Osbourne to become a co-host with Kelly Ripa.
